Steps to cut your car key with an Exacto Knife

Although using an Exacto Knife is not as precise as a hacksaw, it’s much easier to use than a pair of pliers. Follow these steps to cut your keys using an Exacto knife.

Step 1: Take The Wire Cutter And Place It In The Middle Of The Keyhole

First, take the wire cutter and place it in the middle of the keyhole. Then, turn the key so that the blade faces away from you. Now, press down firmly on the handle of that wire cutter with one hand while holding the key between your thumb and index finger. This will force the blade into the keyhole.

Step 2: Turn The Key 90 Degrees Clockwise

Next, rotate the key 90 degrees clockwise by turning it counterclockwise. You should now see the tip of the blade sticking out of the hole.

Step 3: Insert The Blade Into The Keyhole

Now insert the blade into the keyhole. Make sure the blade is fully inserted so that it cuts through both sides of the lock.

Step 4: Rotate The Key 90 Degrees Counterclockwise
